Work in Progress

This is work in progress on a quiltie in readiness for a swap for September with the group Unlimited Textiles. I know I am a bit previous but thought I would get ahead of the game. I am a very busy girl!

Bookmarks

As well as the ongoing project for Unlimited Textiles for themed quilties, there is also a monthly swap of other projects. This month's was bookmarks. This is my first one which I named 'Fleur'. I made this for Laura and I will soon be adding the next one which I will make for Alison.

Quiltie swap.

These are my quilties to swap with Jan and Alis. They were for April but I got a bit behind! Our theme was India. I used sari material for the background and used decorated ribbons for the elephant's trappings and edge. On the other I used mainly sari fabric and couched down indian sari wool and shisha mirrors.

Stitch of the month!

As I am new to textiles Jan thought it would be a good idea to practice my hand stitching. Our group has to produce a creative piece each month using a chosen stitch. This month's was Cretan stitch, and this is my first ever attempt at the stitch!

Bookmark

This is my latest make! it's a bookmark that I've made for my mum for mothers day. I made it by layering paper and snips of thread with water soluble film and machined embroidery over the top. I then layered a sheer fabric which I distressed and finished it off with a machined cord and a handmade tassel. I love the flowers on this I think they are so pretty, and such lovely colours.

Hi Everyone!

This is my first ever blog! So forgive if it's not up to much! Anyway hopefully I can show off some of my work and see what you all think. Be kind though I'm new to the textile world!
This is a piece I made for a competition, where I was given threads and I had to use my imagination! I chose to make cords and couch them down. I love the bright colours.
